Ol Dirty Bastard

Born Russell Tyrone Jones in Brooklyn in 1969, ODB grew up in Fort Green.
As a teen, ODB moved around with his two cousins GZA and RZA, all shared a love for Hip Hop and Kung Fu movies.
He gave himself the name of Ol Dirty Bastard (and what a name) due to the fact he said there was "No father to his style".
Anyone who has heard ODB could not argue with this for a second.
ODB was so different from anyone that had come before him that at first you took his style for some sick joke, though it certainly grew on you.
ODB was with-out doubt the loose cannon of the group and has had numerous run ins with the authorities. He also fell into the world of drugs which probably isn't that unusual within the Rap game or the entertainment industry furthermore.
There are various stories of the crazy antics ODB got up to, from being shot in the stomach to taking his kids to the welfare office in his Limo to collect food stamps. He did this while a documentary was being filmed and he did actually get the stamps!
There were many other incidents that could be written about but in all honesty this is about music and in that ODB gave us much to be celebrated.

Sadly ODB passed in November 2004.
While he survived being shot in the stomach there was no surviving the fatal heart attack he suffered in The Wu-Tang studio.
Efforts were made to resuscitate him but to no avail.

Rest In Peace Ol Dirty Bastard, may the legend live on.
